Retrospective in Flimmuseum: Buster Keaton

The Munich Film Museum pays tribute to the work of Buster Keaton with a retrospective until 25.02.2012 will take place in Munich Film Museum, a retrospective with live music accompaniment to the films of the legendary Buster Keaton. For silent film fans begin the year at the Film Museum in well: A total of 17 programs with short and long feature films of the comedian Keaton are shown, including classics like "The Navigator" (1924), "Go West" (1925) and "The Cameraman" (1928) . Buster Keaton, who was born in 1895, Joseph Francis Keaton in Kansas in 1966 and died in Los Angeles, was due to his stoic facial expression and "Stone Face" or "The man who never laughed," called. In addition to Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, he is one of the greatest comedians of the silent film era. He was known to perform well-defying stunts in his films himself. Three years later he began producing his own, very successful comedies such as "One Week" (1920). From 1920 to 1923, produced and directed 19 short Buster Keaton films, including such famous works as "The Scarecrow," "Neighbors" and "The Paleface". Ten feature films produced between 1923 and 1928.

In the wake of the financial failure of his elaborate movie "The General" (1926) Keaton was an actor in 1928 at MGM. 1933, he was - now an alcoholic - quit and he got slowly into oblivion. In the 1950s, the rediscovery and appreciation of his technically innovative silent film comedies, which are now counted among the most significant works of film history.

The silent films of Buster Keaton run to 02/24/2012 on Fridays, Saturdays, except Sundays at 18:30 clock at the Film Museum, the weekend of 20 - 22.01.2012. Musically, the films are accompanied by Richard Siedhoff, Stephen Horne, Mark and Sabrina Pogolski Zimmermann, Günter A. Buchwald, Neil Brand and Joachim Bärenz.
