Free and very very good: Avant-Prog from Italy by NichelOdeon - # musicmonday No. 21
NichelOdeon - NO is one of the most encouraging signs in the Italian avant-garde scene. True to the motto "It is born and it does not ask for your money, it asks for your attention," asks the band to the exceptional singer Claudio Milano to the attention of the avant-interested listeners - and free (as free downloads) are to hear their new live album, "NO" (5 tracks, 30 minutes running time).
# musicmondayNO NichelOdeon presented with a surprisingly direct, electric sound, which is the compositional highlights of the band combines an energetic, passionate live recording. Unlike the band's studio albums, there are no strings, no horns and no exotic instruments, instead, an (almost classic) rock instrumentation with drums, bass, guitar, saxophone and keyboards - and of course Milan's impressive voice. Called it rock Praggressive Milan - and in fact, so wild, so direct, so aggressive NichelOdeon never sounded:
NichelOdeon prove themselves worthy heirs of the Italian prog tradition of bands like Area, "NO" is impressive live document and an excellent introduction to the ever changing, evolving world of sound NichelOdeons. Not for everyone, but for open-minded listeners a real find.
